Other than that I genuinely hate it and wish it's only use wasn't so dog water. Real shame. It only reduces a certain amount of damage (evidently 7 hearts), if you're getting hit by anything that deals less than 7 hearts, you won't take any damage and just lose rupees. If they added the ability to brush and groom horses, and made that somehow affect riding them, it would also fit better, for the same reason. Petting dogs has nothing to do with anything. Dogs aren't really part of the game except as random decorations, and nothing else can be petted either..
