MD/DOs have a much higher ceiling average-wise than Pods, Dentists, Optometrists, PharmD, but they are also working 50-60 hour workweeks for the 200-250K. I don't believe that PA's can open their own practices without supervision. So, if your great fear is not finding a job upon completion of your residency, you STILL have the option of opening your own practice. (By the way, as a DPM, unlike a PA, you can write your own prescriptions, without any supervision.Podiatry isn't brain surgery and we can all do HTs, bunions, limb salvage.
